Canadian colleges, universities and other educational institutions are open to the world. In order to attend any of these a person must obtain a study permit. International students are allowed to work on campus without the need of a Work Permit.
If their grades are good and their study permit is valid for at least six months they can get a Work Permit which allows them to work 15 hours per week.
Once a foreign student graduates he/she can apply for and obtain a work permit from one to three years depending on the length of their studies in Canada. With this work experience they may be able to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class.
